Charity partner revealed for Nursing Times Workforce Awards 2024
A charity that raises the funds to establish new nurse specialists to support and improve care for seriously ill children has been chosen as the partner for our annual celebration of the best of nursing workforce initiatives.
Each year, the Nursing Times Workforce Awards shines a light on those excelling in nurse recruitment and retention, wellbeing and inclusion, plus many other areas linked to helping overcome the ongoing workforce challenge in health and social care.
“We are truly humbled by the work of all nurses”

In line with those ambitions, we can reveal that Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity will be our charity partner for the 2024 Nursing Times Workforce Awards.
The charity provides nurse specialists and support for seriously ill children. There are currently over 150 Roald Dahl Nurses caring for more than 36,000 seriously ill children across the UK.
Roald Dahl Nurses are trained and dedicated specialists who help families by providing coordinated, dedicated, and holistic care.
They are a consistent presence in the child’s life from initial diagnosis through to transition to adult services. In addition to care and advice, they provide reassurance in times of uncertainty.
The charity also provides support for families in other ways, including financial and emotional support services and family workshops.
Louise Griew, chief executive at Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been selected as The Nursing Times Workforce Awards’ charity partner in 2025.
“Thank you to Nursing Times for joining forces to raise awareness and vital funds for the work of the charity, so together we can improve the lives of thousands of children living with lifelong, complex medical conditions across the UK.
“We are truly humbled by the work of all nurses, so imagine it is hard job for the panel judges!”

Steve Ford, editor of Nursing Times, said: “I am delighted that Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity has agreed to be our charity partner for the 2024 Nursing Times Workforce Awards.
“I am a great fan of theirs, especially the specialist support that the more than 150 Roald Dahl Nurses offer to seriously ill children across the country.
“By becoming our charity partner this year, I hope that we can further raise awareness of the brilliant work of this charity as well as hopefully bringing in some valuable donations as well.”
The shortlisted entries for this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Awards were announced last month, with final presentations and judging set to take place during early October.
The winners will be announced on Thursday, 28 November 2024, at The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, at the seventh annual Nursing Times Workforce Summit & Awards.
This year, to acknowledge the vital importance of supporting and retaining early years nurses, we’re excited to introduce a new awards category dedicated to celebrating preceptees, which will complement our existing categories for preceptors and preceptorship programmes.
With a total of 18 categories this year, we’ll be rewarding the individuals, teams and organisations that go above and beyond and set new standards of excellence in their field.
Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for the 2024 Nursing Times Workforce Summit & Awards. They are NHS Professionals, OET, NHS England, People Alchemy, RLDatix, Workforce Alliance and Restworks.
