Macmillan Cancer Support appoints deputy CNO as trustee
A senior nurse at NHS England has been appointed as a trustee to one of the country’s largest cancer charities.
Macmillan Cancer Support announced today its appointment of Acosia Nyanin, deputy chief nursing officer (CNO) for England (professional and system leadership), to its board of trustees.

Ms Nyanin, as well as her national work as a deputy CNO, has worked as a registered mental health nurse and held various clinical and leadership roles in the NHS.
She described her appointment as a “privilege” and said: “I am inspired by Macmillan’s work to support people with cancer and their loved ones, and by the support and professional development they offer to health and social care professionals, including nurses.
“I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge of and passion for person-centred care to help shape Macmillan’s future plans.”
Ms Nyanin, who is based in the South East of England, will continue to hold her deputy CNO role, a well as her existing nursing responsibilities in her local region.
She joins Jane Cummings, a registered nurse and former CNO for England, in representing the profession on Macmillan’s board.
Board of trustees chair Richard Murley added: “We are delighted to welcome Acosia to Macmillan.
“During the recruitment process we were particularly impressed with Acosia’s experience of working in different community settings, coupled with her passion for person-centred care and the health and social care workforce, which will greatly benefit our future work.”
