Qualifying as a mental health nurse in 1994, Dr Doyle’s nursing career has spanned clinical practice, national workforce development, training, supervision, consultancy, academic teaching and research.
She has been working at QNIS for the past four years in different roles, most recently as a professional nurse lead.
QNIS said, in her new role, Dr Doyle would work with trustees and staff to “help shape the organisation’s response to relevant policy and professional issues for community nursing”.
Commenting on her appointment, Dr Doyle said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed chief executive and nurse director of QNIS.
“I have loved working here for the last four years and I am excited to take the organisation forward as it enters a new chapter.”
Erica Reid, chair of the QNIS board of trustees, welcomed Dr Doyle’s appointment.
“She brings a wealth of nursing experience to the role, and we look forward to her leadership as we continue to support and develop community nurses throughout Scotland,” said Ms Reid.
Dr Doyle is replacing Professor Clare Cable, who has left to lead a different nursing charity, the Burdett Trust for Nursing.
