She has worked for the trust, which specialises in mental health care, for 22 years and has been a registered mental health nurse since 2000.

In the King’s 2024 New Year Honours, Ms Sunduza’s commitment to mental health and community services was recognised with an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal.

Speaking about her new appointment, Ms Sunduza said it had been a “great privilege” to work as chief executive for the last nine months and that she was “delighted” to take on the role substantively.

“I believe strongly in our mission as a trust to improve the quality of life for all we serve and look forward to continuing to work with our service users and carers, staff and system partners in our shared endeavour to deliver this aim for our populations in North East London, Bedfordshire and Luton,” she added.

Eileen Taylor, chair of the East London trust, said the organisation’s leadership board welcomed Ms Sunduza’s appointment.

“Lorraine’s commitment to delivery of the trust’s strategic priorities – to improving population health, experience of care, staff experience and value – has long been evident and leadership and delivery of these priorities, working together with our system partners, is safe in her hands,” she said.
