An NHS nurse of 28 years, Ms Kennah replaces Kimberley Salmon-Jamieson, who herself has been appointed executive group chief nurse at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Ms Kennah has worked at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals since 2017, most recently as deputy chief nurse.

She said she was “truly delighted” with her new appointment.

“It is my pleasure to represent the nursing, midwifery and allied health professions in an organisation that keeps high quality patient care at the heart of all decision making,” she added.

Before working at her current trust, Ms Kennah was the head of quality at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals chief executive Simon Constable said: “I am delighted to announce Ali’s appointment.
