PMHNP Melissa Seale Announces Run for NY State Senate
Melissa Seale, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), is running for New York State Senate.
The founder of Well Child Psychiatric and the Well Child Foundation, Seale is known as a small business owner and community advocate. The purpose of her practice and foundation is to expand access to high-quality mental health care for children and adolescents.
The foundation prioritizes:
- Early intervention
- Continuity of care
- Collaboration between families and schools
She announced her campaign for Senate District 45 and is running as a Democrat.
“I decided to run because I believe our communities deserve better representation in Albany,” she said. “Too many families are struggling to access mental health care, afford everyday costs, and feel heard in Albany. I’ve spent my career stepping in when support is missing, and I’m running for State Senate to do the same for our district.”
Seale’s platform is focused on three main categories, including:
- Expanding Access to Healthcare & Mental Health
- Supporting Education and Families
- Growing Local Economies & Improving Infrastructure
According to her website, she will specifically:
- Expand access to primary, pediatric, and mental health services so families can get care without long waits or long drives.
- Support telehealth and school-based care to reach rural communities and families who are often left out of the system.
- Support proven mental health and developmental programs that help students succeed in and out of the classroom.
- Support small businesses, family farms, and local employers who are the backbone of our economy.
- Expand high-speed broadband and modern infrastructure to connect residents, schools, and businesses.
She said she is looking “forward to meeting the constituents of District 45 and running a campaign that focuses on improving the lives of families and economic growth for the North Country.
Seale earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Quinnipiac University and is a graduate of Sage Colleges with a Master of Science degree as a PMHNP.
Senate District 45 covers the eastern and northern Adirondack region up to the Canadian border. It comprises all of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Warren Counties and parts of St. Lawrence and Washington Counties.
