RNnetwork To Shut Down in 2025 – Is Travel Nursing In Trouble?

CHG Healthcare officially announced the closure of its travel nurse division, RNnetwork, set for March 31, 2025. This decision ends nearly three decades during which RNnetwork facilitated travel assignments for nurses across the nation.

A CHG Healthcare press release on September 10 announced the decision, including new positions for nearly 100 impacted RNnetwork employees and 115 others included in a staff reduction. In the release, CHG Healthcare, the largest physician staffing company in the US, said it “will continue to strengthen its focus on locum tenens and allied professional staffing and healthcare technology.”

RNnetwork has been a pioneer in the travel nursing sector, assisting thousands of nurses in securing temporary positions that address critical staffing needs in healthcare facilities across the United States. CHG acquired the company in January 2004 to expand its current service offerings to include travel nurse staffing. In RNnetwork’s farewell statement to the company’s nurses, providers, and clients, President, Lynne Goss, said, “Thank you all for being part of the RNnetwork team. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”

Messages of Support in Uncertain Future

RNnetwork’s closure prompted a range of discussions among travel nurses, recruiters, and other industry experts on various social platforms. While there were many messages of support and job referrals, others raised concerns about the travel industry in general.

“While it is difficult to close RNnetwork, we are confident it’s the right decision as we help our healthcare clients and support our physicians and allied professionals through every stage of their career,” said Leslie Snavely, the CEO of CHG Healthcare. “We’re accelerating the growth of our core business and continuing to invest in the people, technology, and tools that make it easier for our providers and clients to care for patients.”
