Help us build an election manifesto by nurses

As the next general election approaches, Nursing Times is going to be reaching out to nursing professionals for your views on what the political parties should be including in their manifestos.

We will be asking for your ideas on what can be done to address the biggest issues in nursing specifically, and in health and social care more generally.

The next general election must take place no later than 28 January 2025, but is expected to be called at some point in 2024.

Each month until then, we will focus on a different topic – by the end, we hope to have a manifesto by nurses that we plan to deliver to the main parties seeking to become the next government.

Among the topics we plan to spotlight are the future of the NHS, social care, sustainability, public health and mental health.

The one with which we are choosing to launch the campaign is often cited as the most pressing issue for the profession and the NHS as a whole – nursing workforce shortages.

We want to know your ideas, which we can pass on to politicians, about what you think can be done to boost nurse recruitment and retention, and put an end to unsafe staffing levels for good.
