Nurses Name Amber Ghafer Most Inspirational Nurse of The Year

First, I’d like to thank the amazing team at Nurse.org for this award and for the nursing community who nominated, voted and named me as the Most Inspirational Nurse of The Year for the “BEST OF NURSING AWARDS!”  Being recognized as the “Most Inspirational Nurse of 2023” is an incredible honor, and it’s not just a testament to the industrious skills that we all need as Nurses but it’s also a huge celebration to my dedication and impact that I try to implement daily for my patients and my fellow staff.

My Nursing Journey

I started my nursing career as an LPN back in 2008 and then went on to get my RN in 2015. My foundation as an LPN has molded who I am as a registered nurse today (giving credit where credit is due because our LPN community is Stellar!) In December 2020, I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Nursing & Science from Capella University, focusing on a new path toward healthcare administration and, thankfully, was the last class to walk on stage before the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

In the fast-paced world of healthcare, being an inspirational nurse requires more than just technical expertise. It’s about the empathy you bring to your patients, the resilience you exhibit in challenging situations, and the unwavering commitment to making a positive difference.

Overcoming Challenges

For me, 2023 tested every single one of those concepts, as it has been one of the most challenging years of my life, both personally and professionally. In early 2023, I lost my mother to cancer after a courageous 5-year battle. Additionally, I didn’t know it at the time, but I would be grieving so much more last year and all of it at the exact same time.

Being named Nurse.org’s “Most Inspirational Nurse of 2023” is not just a recognition of my skills and knowledge in healthcare but a celebration of our humanity. It’s about the lives I try to impact, the challenges I’ve had to overcome and persevere through, and the positive changes that I try to continue to bring to my work, nursing community, and the overall healthcare space.

Nurse Consulting

With this new year just beginning, I’ve decided to embark on a new career journey as well and start my own nurse consultant health and wellness business, focusing heavily on gut health, mental health, and grief counseling for other nurses as I have found a great need during my own time of grieving. Thank you, Nurse.org, so much for this prestigious award! I am overjoyed and so very humbled.

With love and gratitude,

Amber Ghafer, BSN, RN
